Since its inception in 1950, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has invested in research and education in all aspects of science and engineering. The goal of this special session is to inform students attending the CDC about several programs currently supported by the National Science Foundation. In particular, the CAREER program dealing with early career development and the GOALI program dealing with industry-university interactions will be discussed. The IEEE Control Society (CSS), established in 1954, is the premier technical society for the promotion of control systems engineering. The session will also describe the many opportunities offered by the IEEE CSS for networking and career enhancement that students can take advantage of in their pursuit of a career in control systems engineering.
